Being of English heritage, I loved the Beatles and most of the British Invasion groups. The only negative: they pretty much killed off an era of beautiful, well written songs and ballads, such as this one. One of my all time favorites.

Truly a most wonderful and beautiful talent. She had to experience the lows and the highs in life and the sadness to sing and convey such emotions in her songs. I saw her not long after this at Carnegie Hall and she was superb. She was in love with Bobby Darin and her father broke them up and I don’t think she ever truly loved again. She never got the recognition she deserved during her singing career. Love her.

In Montevideo our high school music teacher told us that Piaf is like Carlos Gardel, a singer for the people. Gardel's real name is said to have been Charles Romuald Gardes, born in Toulouse. Piaf had great songwriters, Gardel is credited with having composed most of his best songs. He recorded two French songs. Both singers amazing. Also Charles Trenet.
